Roddy Ricch - 'thailand
The first taste of Roddy Ricch’s electrifying and cinematic new album, ‘LIVE LIFE FAST’. ‘thailand’ was our initial favourite, the first taste of the record after it’s opening song ‘llf’. Some other great tracks from the album are ‘all good’ and ‘don’t i’, we are also quite the fans of ‘moved to miami’. The album has a star-studded list of features, inducing Lil Baby, Future, 21 Savage, Ty Dolla $ign and Fivio Foreign - plus production credits from Kenny Beats, Wheezy, Mustard and more.
midwxst - 'Chowder'
midwxst has wrapped up the year with his latest ‘EP, BACK IN ACTION 2.0’. Combining hyperpop and trap music, midwxst continues to defy expectations - with this EP finding him sharing his experiences with mental health and emotions being the most dangerous thing you can possess.
Fana Hues - 'Breakfast'
Fana Hues has released her latest beautiful track ‘Breakfast’, a soulful love ballad.
We have been fans of Fana since her breakthrough project ‘Hues’, and have been loving every single release from her since - including her feature on our favourite song of 2021, ‘SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE’ by Tyler, the Creator.
Tierra Whack -'Heaven'
Tierra Whack has released the final installment of her EP trilogy, this time called ‘R&B?’. Proving once again how effortlessly she can flow between genres and styles, R&B? takes us on an emotional journey as Tierra opens up to us over smooth, R&B infused beats. Our favourite track from the third EP was ‘Heaven’
PollyHill & Samara Alofa - 'Void'
Long-time friends and two of Auckland’s most electrifying underground talents, PollyHill and Samara Alofa have shared their collaborative new single ‘Void’. The track explores the two diving into reckoning with their addictions, whether that be substance or person-related. ‘Void’ is the result of late night jam sessions when the pair lived together, it is the exciting first shared release between the two, and will not be the last.
Father - 'Bounty'
A new underground gem from issue one feature Father continues his explorative streak of singles throughout the year.
BEXY - 'I'm Upset'
BEXY’s debut EP ‘Wear My Wounds Like Armour’ has finally arrived, and we are in love with it’s final track, ‘I’m Upset’. The crescendo of the project, this track marks BEXY’s most mature sound to date as she shares stories of a hopeless romantic battling relationship anxiety, her music is ultimately cinematic and full of confronting honesty allowing her to heal along the way.
Crystal Chen - 'purple tears'
Introducing Auckland-based singer-songwriter Crystal Chen, who has released her latest silky smooth single ‘purple tears’. Crystal shows off her blissful vocals as they float over an intricate R&B infused beat. It grew on us real quick, and has been on repeat all weekend!
FKA twigs - 'Tears In The Club' (Featuring The Weeknd)
Just in time for New Years parties all over the world, FKA twigs returns with her latest single ‘Tears In The Club’ featuring none other than the Weeknd, aided with production from Arca. The new single marks an evolution and expansion in twigs’ sonic palette, as she continues to push the boundaries of her ethereal pop music.
