Tenner's Ten is back for week seventeen! Every Monday we are bringing you ten songs we have had on repeat for the week. This week's on repeats include new tracks from Latto featuring Lil Wayne & Childish Gambino. Tyler, The Creator, Omar Apollo, Denzel Curry & beabadoobee - plus the release of Wallows' sophomore album, 'Tell Me That It's Over'
Latto - 'Sunshine'
(ft. Lil Wayne & Childish Gambino)
Atlanta rap powerhouse Latto has released her new album ‘777’, elevating the artist to a whole new level. ‘Sunshine’ was one of many standout tracks, but this one found a special spot in our hearts very very quickly - recruiting two icons on the track, Childish Gambino and Lil Wayne. The album also features 21 Savage, Lil Durk and Nardo Wick.
Omar Apollo - 'Tamagotchi'
Another taste of Omar Apollo’s forthcoming debut album ‘Ivory’ comes in the form of ‘Tamagotchi’ a sonic blend of booming trap-style drums and smooth bilingual verses, produced by iconic duo The Neptunes.
Denzel Curry - 'Sanjuro'
(ft. 454)
Denzel Curry has returned with his latest album ‘Melt My Eyez See Your Future’. The rapper blends the very best from his past projects, all while unleashing a whole new universe of Denzel Curry as he continues to expand his palette with a more reflective lyrical tone. Our favourite from the album is ‘Sanjuro’ featuring underground artist 454, who stepped into the spotlight after being handpicked by Frank Ocean to soundtrack the launch of his designer jewellery brand, Homer. The album is a jackpot of features, from guest appearances by Slowthai, T-Pain, Rico Nasty, JID, 6LACK and more, to production credits from Kenny Beats, JPEGMAFIA and Thundercat.
Tyler, The Creator - 'Come On, Let's Go'
(with Nigo)
Tyler is back like he never left with the new track ‘Come On, Let’s Go’ released on the highly anticipated Nigo album ‘I Know Nigo’. The album almost feels like an extra addition to the ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’ universe, with the video featuring Sir Baudelaire airing his frustrations in front of a flashy, vine covered mansion with a bright yellow lambo. The album features Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky, Pop Smoke, Pharrell, Gunna and more.
Wallows - 'That's What I Get'
Wallows have released their sophomore album ‘Tell Me That It’s Over’, a transformative album that marks a new era for the band’s artistry. The album features so many incredible tracks including ‘Guitar Romantic Search Adventure’, ‘At The End Of The Day’, ‘Permanent Price’ and ‘Marvelous’, but our favourite has to be ‘That’s What I Get’.
We spoke to Wallows about their new album for the latest issue of Tenner - you can read the full feature here.
Nick Ward - 'ALIEN'
Ahead of the release of his highly anticipated EP ‘BRAND NEW YOU’, Australian alt-indie artist Nick Ward has released his latest single, ‘ALIEN’, co-written by Tim Nelson of Cub Sport, and co-produced by lucuanblomkamp. The song acts as the set up for the themes of the new EP, as well as bridging the gap from his previous EP, ‘Everything I Wish I Told You’. Nick details his experience with queer masculinity, and the binaries that hung over Nick’s head while in high school - knowing he didn’t quite fit in, but then also didn’t feel seen in queer spaces either.
We named Nick one of our artists to watch in 2022, and couldn't be more excited to watch his latest work unfold.
Crystal Chen - 'top down'
Introducing Auckland-based R&B indie artists Crystal Chen, who has blessed us with her new honey-fused track ‘top down’, taking us on a romantic and jazzy cruise with the top down. The track feels super fresh, and has us excited for what is up next from Crystal. We are officially fans!
beabadoobee - 'Talk'
Beabadoobee has announced her new album Beatopia alongside her latest single, ‘Talk’, a song about doing things that aren't the greatest for you, but you can’t help but indulge. She also added that she has an obsession with Tuesday, and that it’s the best night to go out.
Sam V - 'Come Through'
The rising prince of New Zeland’s R&B Sam V has release his first new music of the year, blessing our ears with his new track ‘Come Through’ - a jazzy foot-tapping showcase of his silky smooth vocals. The single comes with some sick cover art too.
Holly Humberstone - 'I Would Die 4 U'
We will never ever get sick of Holly Humberstone! The rising songstress has blessed us with her version of Prince’s iconic ‘I Would Die 4 U’, and we are so in love with her rendition.
